چکیده

We consider the system access problem for CDMA networks where the access channels are nonorthogonal to the traffic channels. In such systems, the accessing user can degrade the performance of existing users by introducing extra interference. We study how transmit power should be varied with each successive access attempt so that the linear combination of average power expended and the average delay experienced by the accessing user is minimized. The harm caused by the accessing user to the existing communication links is also considered. We find that for all cost functions we consider, the absence of an access deadline implies that each access attempt should be made at some constant power. With an imposed access deadline we find that the optimum sequence of transmit powers can be determined recursively.

Bit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)

In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...

Joint Scheduling and Power Control for Multiclass Users in CDMA Wireless Ad Hoc Networks

In this paper, we develop a cross-layer based joint algorithm for power control and scheduling. We applied the algorithm in CDMA wireless adhoc networks to determine the optimum set of admissible users with optimum transmitting power level, so as to minimize the interference level and call rejection rate. The multiple access problem is solved via two alternating phases, namely scheduling and po...

A New Medium Access Control Protocol for TDD Mode Wideband CDMA Wireless Local Area Networks

It is well known that TDD mode wideband CDMA is particularly suited for wireless local area networks (LANs). In this paper a medium access control (MAC) protocol is proposed for wireless multimedia LANs that are based on TDD mode wideband CDMA. In order to minimize interference experienced by a packet and to satisfy bit error rates (BERs) of multimedia traffic, a minimum-power allocation algori...

Class I Class II - A Class II

Addressed is the uplink access control problems for cellular CDMA systems that service heterogeneous traac with various types of quality-of-service (QoS) and use Multi-Code CDMA (MC-CDMA) to support variable bit rates. Considering its distinct QoS requirements, class-I real-time traac (e.g., voice and video) is diierentiated from class-II non-real-time traac (e.g., data). Connection-oriented tr...

An FDD Wideband CDMA MAC Protocol for Wireless Multimedia Networks

A medium access control (MAC) protocol is developed for wireless multimedia networks based on frequency division duplex (FDD) wideband code division multiple access (CDMA). In this protocol, the received power levels of simultaneously transmitting users are controlled by a minimum-power allocation algorithm such that the heterogeneous bit error rates (BERs) of multimedia traffic are guaranteed....
